The Vermont State Police and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are the principal agencies providing law enforcement coverage to the Town of Richford. The current contract with the Sheriff’s Office provides coverage seven days a week depending on current demands. Additional varied day time coverage from late spring to early autumn is utilized to deter unlawful activity. The Vermont State Police is available daily for enforcement from 2AM to 5:30PM. The Town Report contains information provided from both of these departments detailing their activities in Richford over the past year.
The town appreciates the work of the Richford Border Patrol Station for assisting the local law enforcement departments serving the community. The Patrol can be the first responders to police calls when requested even though their primary responsibility is to border enforcement.
Law enforcement agencies continue to have access and utilize imagery from the town’s surveillance cameras to support investigations of criminal activity. Upgraded cameras and transmitters/receivers are routinely added to expand coverage and provide higher resolution pictures.
- The winter Parking Ban is in effect daily on all streets from December 1st to April 15th - 2AM to 6AM. Vehicles found in violation are subject to being towed and impounded at the owner’s expense.
